1. St Augustine, Florida
Along with being a destination for fine dining and spectacular beaches, St Augustine has a long and storied history. In fact, it is the first permanent European settlement in America. Tourism is St Augustine’s main industry and with good reason. The city was founded in 1565 by Pedro Menendez de Aviles and there are several historical monuments that date back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Visitors will have the opportunity to see educational living museums and to tour the old city.
