Trans fats, or trans fatty acids, are the type of fats found in vegetable oils. These substances, like vegetable oils are produced industrially and were ingredients in many processed foods up until very recently, when the food industry grew educated about how unhealthy they are and started to regulate their distribution. Today, many foods no longer contain trans fats. Vegetable oil still has large quantities of them.
