The music industry is shifting. An incredible amount of music is being consumed via online streaming. Self-produced, independent artists are gaining traction and tasting success.
And that’s only just the start.
Those following the trends in the music industry are saying that 2017 will see the rise of artists exclusively releasing singles and EPs instead of traditional albums. We’ll also start to see the streaming audio services (Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon, Pandora, etc.) explore their options with original content, much like Netflix and Amazon do with video content.
Others think this will be the year when record labels themselves develop apps and platforms for their talent to shine on. One even believes that the top 10 singles of the year will feature a solo artist, singular songwriter and one producer. Smaller teams are making their way to the top, it seems!
