Very few people (if anyone) likes going to the dentist. Even if your teeth are practically perfect, sitting in that stiff chair with your mouth wide open for an hour while people poke and prod your gums and ask you questions you physically can’t answer is stressful.
There’s really no winning. Either you go to the dentist on a regular basis and thus frequently have to endure the discomfort that is associated with the most basic visit. Or you don’t go often enough and every time you DO go you are subjected to painful procedures.
It’s no wonder many people hate dentist appointments.
These upcoming stories might make you feel better about your dentist visits. After all, at least none of THESE awful things have ever happened to you at the dentist. Then again, these stories just prove that dentist appointments are the absolute worst.
Scratch that: pure evil.
Developing Amnesia from Anesthesia
This story is about a British man who went to the dentist for a routine root canal surgery in 2005.
As part of the procedure, they used a general anesthetic to put him under. The surgery itself went fine, but when William woke up he (and doctors) quickly realized he had a case of amnesia. Though he can remember everything leading up to the root canal, everything after is a complete blank. In fact, he can’t remember anything that happens to him now for longer than 90 minutes.
The details of his personal, Memento-themed hell remain a mystery to doctors.
